STRESS: THE GOOD AND THE BAD
Despite the dangers of stress, it is unavoidable. There are a number of methods to cope, such as those listed HERE and HERE, but what about embracing it?
 
Stanford Medicine researcher suggest short-term stress can provide some benefits both in physical and mental performance. Read more about Dr. Firdaus Dhabhar's research on the benefits of stress HERE.
 
But what does it mean to embrace stress? Stanford psychologist Kelly McGonigal said, "viewing stress more positively seems to encourage people to cope in ways that help them thrive, whether it's tackling the source of stress, seeking social support or finding meaning in it."
 
Dr. McGonigal said it is all in your mindset, "For example, when you feel your heart pounding from anxiety, you think about how your body is trying to give you the energy you need to rise to the challenge." Read more about Dr. McGonigal's research HERE.
 
Harvard Health Publishing has gathered a large number of articles together relating to the varying types of stress, from Psoriasis to simply watching a football game, that can aid in developing a greater understanding of stressors and how to cope with them.
