Julian Whitaker, MD, is medical director of the Whitaker Wellness Institute, one of the country’s largest and most comprehensive integrative medicine clinics. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he received his medical degree in 1970 from Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia. After completing a surgical internship at Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital, he continued his training at the University of California in San Francisco.

Dr. Whitaker ultimately chose to forgo a surgical career in favor of integrative medicine. From 1976 to 1977, he was on the medical staff of the Pritikin Longevity Center, and in 1979, he opened the Whitaker Wellness Institute. Since then, more than 50,000 patients have come to the clinic for treatment of heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, obesity, autoimmune disorders, and other chronic diseases.

Today, the clinic employs five talented physicians and a staff of more than 40 experienced nurses, therapists, technicians, and patient facilitators. Whitaker Wellness offers more therapies under one roof than any other clinic of its kind. They include: ACUPUNCTURE, HIGH-INTENSITY LASER, NUTRITIONAL CONSULTATION, CHELATION AND OTHER INTRAVENOUS THERAPIES, HYPERBARIC OXYGEN, PLATELET-RICH PLASMA, EECP, MASSAGE, PROLOTHERAPY, FSM, NEUROFEEDBACK, and STEM CELL THERAPY.

The clinic’s popular Back to Health Program, a one-, two-, or three-week intensive program of medical evaluation, treatment, lifestyle changes, and education, attracts patients from all over North America.

In addition to his busy medical practice, Dr. Whitaker is an internationally known champion of integrative medicine. He is a powerful voice against FDA abuses and a tireless proponent of effective alternative therapies. His strong belief in ensuring medical freedom prompted him to found the nonprofit Freedom of Health Foundation. He is also a founder of the Alliance for Natural Health-USA and, along with Nobel Prize winning scientist Dr. Linus Pauling, the California Orthomolecular Medical Society.

Since 1991, Dr. Whitaker’s monthly newsletter Health & Healing has provided more than 2.5 million households with his practical, timely advice.  He has written 14 books, including The Mini-Fast Diet, The Whitaker Wellness Weight Loss Program, Reversing Diabetes, Reversing Hypertension, Reversing Heart Disease, The Memory Solution, Shed 10 Years in 10 Weeks, The Pain Relief Breakthrough, Dr. Whitaker’s Guide to Natural Healing, Is Heart Surgery Necessary? and Reversing Health Risks.

Dr. Whitaker has hosted his own radio show, appeared on national television programs, and lectured widely all over the United States on issues of health and the political forces within the medical profession. He has had a long and close association with ACAM, having served as a board member, lectured at ACAM scientific sessions, and attended meetings and conferences for more than 25 years.
