Mark Berman, MD, FACS
Mark practices cosmetic surgery and stem cell surgery in Beverly Hills. Together with Elliot Lander, they co-founded the California Stem Cell Treatment Center and then the Cell Surgical Network. There are about 100 affiliates and growing in the US and growing rapidly with partners in China and worldwide. He was the 2010 President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Julio Garcia, MD
   Dr. Julio L. Garcia is a Cuban, who emigrated with his family after the collapse of the Cuban government during the takeover by Fidel Castro. After coming to the United States and growing up in Chicago, Illinois, where he became an American citizen, he completed his medical training and moved to Las Vegas in 1988, entering the private practice of Plastic Surgery. Besides plastic surgery, Dr. Garcia has also been providing Regenerative Medicine technology since 2013. He offers multiple modalities for his patients including adipose-derived stem cell therapy, also called stromal vascular fraction therapy as well as mesenchymal cell therapy, peptide injections as well as Chinese Medicine remedies for a variety of medical issues.
   Dr. Garcia is also a nationally recognized author and lecturer on a variety of medical topics and procedures. He is a frequent spokesman for the American Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Garcia is a member of the Board of Directors for the Aesthetic Society Education and Research Foundation, an entity that raises funds to allow plastic surgeons to perform ground-breaking research relative to cosmetic surgery. He is the President of the ASERF Society until April 2019.
   Dr. Garcia is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1983 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. This was complemented by a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Northwestern University.

Rafael Gonzalez, PhD
Dr. Gonzalez has been responsible for the development of clinical stem cell applications for several disease/trauma states, and has extensive expertise in degenerative disorders involving the spinal cord. Dr. Gonzalez additionally has several scientific publications in the stem cell field, and received his undergraduate degree in Biological Science, and PhD in Anatomy & Neurobiology from the University of California, Irvine.

Ahvie Herskowitz, MD
Dr. Herskowitz’s extensive training includes a medical degree from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, residencies in Anatomic Pathology and Internal Medicine, and Fellowship training in Cardiology at The Johns Hopkins Medical Center. During his 12 years at Johns Hopkins, where he became Associate Professor of Medicine and Immunology and Molecular Microbiology. His clinical responsibilities were complemented by directing a multidisciplinary research team in the study of molecular and immunological mechanisms of inflammation, autoimmunity, heart attack, heart transplantation and heart failure.
   Over the past 15 years, he helped establish and lead innovative health care non-profit research and development organizations that have domestic and worldwide social impact. He served as Head of Research at the Ischemia Research and Education Foundation, working with over 100 leading heart surgery hospitals around the world, dedicated to reducing adverse outcomes during and after heart surgery. Since 1999, Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of California at San Francisco, and Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of the Institute for OneWorld Health, the first non-profit pharmaceutical company in the United States. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors for iRND3, (www.irnd3.org) an organization that discovers new medicines for rare and neglected diseases. He is also on the Board for PVRI, Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute, and is President of the ACAM (American College for Advancement in Medicine), the oldest Integrative Medicine organization in the U.S

Rajen Naidoo, MD
   Dr. Naidoo brings a 30 year history in the biosciences to his role as Chief Medical Officer of Invitrx Therapeutics. A physician scientist with a doctorate in Medicine from Yale University, he also holds biomedical engineering degrees and completed Orthopedic Surgical training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Lecture Description:
In 2010 President Barack Obama signed the reversal of the ban on Stem Cell research in the United States and permitted Federal funding of Stem Cell research for 21 Stem Cell lines (Nature 473, 15 (2011)). Since then private funding and industry sponsored clinical studies and clinical use of Stem cells has accelerated and reached the level in which the body of clinical evidence far surpasses the available clinical trials and begs the creation of FDA directed regulation, and granting of Investigational New Drug licenses to further the progress of formal Randomized Prospective Clinical Trials (FDA Clinical Trials.gov). The guidance of the FDA commissioner, Scott Gothlieb, MD in his paper with Peter Marks, MD, PhD ( NEJM 378;10 – 3/8/18) has provided a pathway to the future of stem cell clinical investigation and use once the three year moratorium on regulatory enforcement has expired. This author presents a ten year clinical experience with clinical stem cell administration and discusses the results with treatment of various clinical indications as well as formal clinical studies currently being conducted in the US and other countries.

Ioannis Papasotiriou, MD, PhD
Dr. Ioannis Papasotiriou was born in Munich, Germany. He graduated from Medical School of Thessaloniki University in 1997. He made his first specialty in Human Genetic (University of Zurich), and his second specialty in Hematology Oncology (MLU/UKH/Halle/Saale) .
He obtained two Master degrees, one in molecular biology in medicine from the Westminster University and one in Oncology from the University of Nottingham. He completed his promotion (MD) in MLU University in the area of TKIs in human cancer cells lines. Between 2001 and 2004 he established Arzt Genetik Zentrum in Thessaloniki where he was a director.
Since May 2004 Dr. Papasotiriou is the medical director of R.G.C.C. INTERNATIONAL GmbH where the major field of expertise is molecular oncology with main interest in the entity of Cancer Stem Cell (CTCs) like.

Lecture Description

It is known that in regenerative medicine there is a need for repairing tissue and organs in many diseases that affects several organs and tissues. The technology of inducible Pluripotent Stem cells is promising to fulfill that need. Of course as every method and assay has its own limitations, indications and contradications. John Sanderson, MD
Dr. Sanderson is a physician-scientist with a focus on regenerative medicine. He began his career in clinical medicine, specializing in diabetes and IVnutrition. As an NIH-supported scholar and multiple grant recipient, he created a number of new products and systems for treatment of aging and chronic diseases. As medical director at Johnson & Johnson, he participated in diabetes research on an international scale. Douglas J. Spiel, M.D. , a Board Certified Radiologist, is a member of the World Institute of Pain, and was the first radiologist in the country to become a Diplomat of the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. Dr. Speight obtained his undergraduate work in chemistry at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He attended medical school at East Carolina School of Medicine and completed his residency at University of South Carolina-Columbia

He is board certified in Family Medicine and has additional training in Metal Toxicology, Nutritional, and Environmental Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine and is the Past President of The American College for the Advancement of Medicine (ACAM).
