Italian Government Orders Trial of Controversial Stem Cell Therapy
The Italian Senate has approved an 18-month, €3 million clinical trial of a controversial stem cell-based therapy. The vote, on 22 May 2013, will also allow a hospital to continue to treat patients already undergoing the contested treatment - although new patients may not be enrolled. Developed by Davide Vannoni, a psychologist at the University of Udine and president of the Stamina Foundation in Turin, this therapy uses patients' own mesenchymal stem cells, derived from bone marrow, to treat neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, as well as muscle-wasting disorders.

Shocking Lyme Disease Statistics — and Why Money and Politics Stand in the Way of a Cure
Alliance for Natural Health
It's an epidemic larger than AIDS, the West Nile virus, and the avian flu combined. So why is conventional medicine pretending it doesn’t exist?

Lyme disease is a complex multi-system inflammatory disease that can affect every tissue and major organ system in the body. Clinically, it can appear as a chronic arthralgia (joint pain), fibromyalgia (fibrous connective tissue and muscle pain), chronic fatigue, brain fog, immune dysfunction, and neurological disease. It may even be fatal in severe cases. Transmission occurs primarily through the bite of ticks, though fewer than 50 percent of patients with Lyme disease recall a tick bite.

World's Oldest Tumor Found in Neanderthal Remains
National Monitor
Scientists have discovered a tumor in a bone from the rib cage of a Neanderthal found in Croatia. According to Medical News Today, the Neanderthal bones were excavated between 1899 and 1905. During that time, about 900 Neanderthal bones were taken from a cave in Croatia. In the 1980s, researchers x-rayed all of the bones and published them in a book. However, the rib containing the tumor had an x-ray image that appeared burnt out, leaving scientists to overlook the tumor until now.
