From the Desk of the Director
Michael Boutot, ACAM Executive Director
ACAM has been a member of the Integrative Medicine Consortium (IMC) for a number years. The IMC is a consortium of eight member companies with similar interests to ACAM.

The IMC is developing a pool of expert witnesses who could provide testimony regarding integrative medicine under a variety of circumstances. They are seeking interested Integrative Medicine experts to put into a database that can be accessed by the integrative community at-large as well as attorneys and academic institutions.

The program was conceived to provide important support for the advancement of Integrative Medicine. The Expert Witness Program will potentially benefit both you as a physician, as well as Integrative Medicine as a whole. It is an integral aspect of supporting integrative medicine, as it is greatly needed to improve our legal defense and establish broader credibility and acceptance.

    Diaspora of clinical medicine
Stephen J. Genuis MD FRCSC DABOG DABEM
A growing phenomenon continues to fracture contemporary clinical medicine. We now have orthodox medicine, naturopathic medicine, ayurvedic medicine, environmental medicine, osteopathic medicine, complementary and alternative medicine, functional medicine, restorative medicine, and so on. Mainstream physicians generally believe that conventional medicine is scientific and that alternative medicine is unscientific1; alternative practitioners, on the other hand, generally believe that conventional practitioners are ill equipped to facilitate health and healing.

When men begin to experience erection problems and loss of libido, it's usually an indication that testosterone has been low for a while.

Was George W. Bush's stent necessary?
    Dr. Fuhrman

Bush’s decision to have a stent placed, even though he had not had a heart attack and was not experiencing angina (chest pain caused by restricted blood flow to the heart). During an annual exam, his stress test showed an abnormality; then an angiography showed a blockage, and President Bush and his physicians decided to proceed with stenting.

Keep bees and farmers happy - go organic!
Fans of organic food sometimes find it difficult to convince others of the benefits. After all, that pricey organic carrot looks just like the one which has been doused in synthetic agricultural chemicals all of its life. And scientific research comparing organic products with non-organic counterparts on issues like taste and potential health impacts has frequently been inconclusive or contradictory.
