Issue #1.1
July 2014

Dear ACAM Member,

As we find ourselves halfway through 2014, ACAM's leadership has reflected back on the list of projects we committed to accomplish since the start of the year. We began with a clear understanding that ACAM's future success was hinged on moving our daily business operations to its new headquarters in Montana and sharpening our focus on meeting the needs of our members. All the while we took steps to control spending and run a tighter ship, to create better partnerships with our corporate sponsors and vendors, and invest in technologies that will meet current internet based business trends, all helping to move ACAM into the future.

With these changes came the restructure of the Voice Newsletter - once sent to anyone interested, now focused on informing ACAM's members of news, member research, classifieds, meeting information and more. ACAM will begin a non-member newsletter, Physician's Link, next month which will cater to the consumer/patient seeking information from ACAM.

Please enjoy the newly revamped Voice and feel free to send comments to info@acam.org. We want The Voice to give you the content you want in one easy location, all while focusing the spotlight on ACAM's members and the outstanding work they do.

FEATURED ACAM MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Catherine A. Waller, MD: Waller Wellness Center
Rochester Hills, MI     www.WallerWellness.com

“I’ve always been a bit of a rebel, questioning the status quo and looking for ways to make our world a better place. Over 30 years ago, I chose medicine for my career because I believed I could make a meaningful difference, improving the way healthcare is managed and delivered with a more holistic and compassionate approach.”

Combining Science, Experience and Empathy
“After many years working as a Family Practice physician, I yearned for the knowledge to help my patients achieve optimum health and vitality instead of simply treating their symptoms. I enrolled in a two-year training program in Functional Medicine and learned to uncover the hidden causes of symptoms and use natural treatments first instead of medications. Armed with new tools for healing, I opened the Waller Wellness Center (formerly the Rochester Center for Healthy Living) in 2005 to provide a new generation of healthcare.

“I’ve intentionally created a culture of innovation and exploration where we take time to do lengthy interviews, ask the right questions, listen to our patients, use the latest diagnostic tests and investigate complex medical puzzles using a different approach than others have before us. By understanding the underlying causes of our patient’s symptoms, we can empower them with the knowledge, treatments and tools they need to heal themselves.

“I’m proud that my scientific approach to natural medicine has enabled me to significantly improve my patients’ health and vitality and put them on a new path to wellness and longevity.”
