Autism & Gut-Brain Connection

Autism's gut-brain connection
OZY
Stress can send your stomach into a painful tailspin, causing cramps, spasms and grumbling. But trouble in the gut can also affect the brain. This two-way relationship may be an unlikely key to solving one of medicine’s most pressing — and perplexing — mysteries: autism. Nearly 60 years after the disorder was first identified, the number of cases has surged, and the United Nations estimates that up to 70 million people worldwide fall on the autism spectrum. Yet there is no known cause or cure.

Fish Oil & Diabetes

Fish oil reduces diabetes risk
NewsMax Health
The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and fish oils reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes, says a Finnish study. Type 2 diabetes is becoming increasingly widespread throughout the world. Overweight is the most significant risk factor, which means that diet and other lifestyle factors play important roles in the development of Type 2 diabetes. Earlier research has established that weight management, exercise and high serum linoleic acid concentrations, among other things, are associated with reduced risk of diabetes.

Study: Roundup Ready GM soybeans accumulate poison more than equivilant non-GM soybeans
Natural News
Biotech proponents are fond of proclaiming how little difference there is between typical crops and their genetically engineered varieties - but fresh findings show that not everything is created equal after all. STEM CELL THERAPY

Stem cell therapy heals broken bones
Euro News
A broken bone usually requires a plaster to heal. But sometimes that's not enough. So researchers at the Brussels Saint-Luc University Hospital have come up with an innovative kind of regeneration therapy – creating bone from fat. This is done by taking adipose or fatty stem cells from beneath the patient’s skin, which is a painless procedure. These cells then undergo a transformation process to be turned into bone cells – an easy-to-use 3-dimensional structure which helps reconstruct critical bone defects.
