Darla is the heart and soul of HemaCare Plus. A Registered Nurse by education, she started the company out of a deep desire to provide better nursing care for the bleeding disorder community. Better nursing care translates to patients becoming proficient at self-infusion, lower rates of infection, and fewer hospitalizations. This in turn enables the patient to attend school with fewer absences, and the caregiver and/or patient, to work out in the real world, something unheard of just a few short years ago. Her desire is to see every patient that she cares for grow into a healthy, well-educated, self-sufficient and productive citizen of our society. Now in business close to 10 years, when you talk to Darla, you catch her passion for her patients and for providing the best possible nursing care and education possible, enabling families to live normal lives, without being controlled by their chronic disorder.
Sexton fulfilled his dream to become a doctor and found a passion for scuba diving and hyperbaric medicine despite many obstacles. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 18 months old, doctors believed he would likely spend his life in a wheelchair, never being able to walk, talk or see. He endured multiple surgeries and setbacks to later discover his desire to become a doctor because of his disability. While many universities told him he would never achieve his goal because of this reason, he persevered. Now as a pediatric doctor, he feels his disability makes him relatable to his patients, and is able to mentor children with disabilities. His desire is to bring hope to his patients and their families and encourage them to pursue their own dreams, just as he did with medical school, scuba diving, and hyperbaric medicine.

His knowledge and experience in hyperbaric medicine make him a unique physician and educator in this field. Sexton has published many papers focused on hyperbaric medicine and the medicinal benefits in many clinical applications. He treats many individuals with Decompression Illness and other diagnoses, is a Clinical Professor of Hyperbaric Medicine and also consults with individuals and companies for increased personnel training.

Dr. Sexton continues to pursue his own dreams and passions while encouraging others to do the same. He is an international motivational speaker raising awareness about overcoming adversity among the disabled. He has authored a book and been featured in many books, articles, and radio and television broadcasts. His goal is to impact people by instilling in them an attitude of achievement, regardless of the disability or situation.
